WHEN: Saturday, June 27th, 10:00am - 4:00pm
Why buy your tombstones when you can make your own? Those store bought ones might look not bad but they're expensive and all seem to say "RIP". Learn how to carve your own custom tombstones and paint them to look like real stone for a fraction of the cost. In this seminar you'll learn advanced carving and painting techniques for creating realistic effects in foam.
This day-long seminar will be run a bit differently than most Make & Takes in that instead of starting one tombstone and completing it that day I plan on demonstrating a number of different techniques that can be used to create any number of props using easily available expanded foam insulation boards. The techniques to be covered will include different styles of lettering; cracks & weathering; carving stone & wood grain; along with easy painting effects to achieve the look of stone, brick or metal.
Each participant will be given a wood-burning tool along with a selection of tools and materials needed for the day's exercises. We will be working on small pieces of foam board for each of the techniques with the idea that they will form a reference palette that can be can be used to create a variety of effects and props, from tombstones to brickwork to wood signs.
Lunch (pizza & drinks) will be provided.
SPACE IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF ONLY 12 PEOPLE SO REGISTER EARLY.
LOCATION: 19 Rainforest Drive, Brampton ON
